Description:

In a cherry or mahogany case (has been identified as both per the experts) case and late 18th c., the clock displays a brass dial and has the second hand, calendar, and moon face disc on it including the starry night. The Corinthian columns and broken arches on the bonnet give it a flair for the classic style you want to see. The clock appears to be in original condition and when opened, it displays brass works and is believed to be a 8 day time and strike clock with lead weights. The case is in very good condition with the dial being somewhat worn as you would expect. Unsure if it had a finial up top and if it did, it is now missing. A brass knob has taken it's place but I don't detect a hole where a finial would have gone so maybe it originally did not have one. The pendulum lead weight is half there with the other half in the bottom of the case. There is an extra pendulum weight in the bottom as well and that might be the original. (you can see this on the floor to the left of the case in the photo) The brass name plate on the dial is half there and half gone and it is not in the bottom of the case. The part that can be read is the latter half of it and it says "Philadelphia". Take a look at the photos and focus in on that bonnet as it is beautiful. Clock measures 102" tall (8 1/2 ft.), is 22 1/4" wide and 11" deep. With winding key and key for the case.
