Description:

Asa Blanchard Coin Silver Julep Cup
Rare Lexington, Kentucky coin silver julep Cup stamped A. BLANCHARD in rectangle for Asa Blanchard, who worked in Lexington 1808-1838. Tapering cylindrical sides and reeded rim and base. Monogrammed and dated in two different places on the cup. The one side is dated 1812 and probably this is when it was first presented to the owner with a monogram of what looks to be "M*K" The opposite side is dated 1902 with the monogram of "B*C" and it can be surmised that this is the date presented to the next owner. You can be the third (or fourth) owner of this fine and rare cup!
Looks to be well rounded- not out of round. Noted is the "H" and "A" in Blanchard has wear and is almost obscured but faintly there. You can see this in the photo. A couple of minor dents on the outer sides (nothing severe) with denting on the insides and on the bottom of the cup.
It measures 3 3/16" in height and not that it matters as I promise you this will not be scrapped, it weighs 4.59 troy ounces of coin silver.
