Description:

Elijah Warner tall-case clock made with Cherry primary and Poplar secondary woods. It features the well recognized easily identifiable Warner broken-arch and Warner columns on the hood. The hood itself is solid with old wavy glass and does not incorporate a door. The entire hood slides on and off from the front utilizing high quality tongue and groove construction. His classic mahogany veneer band below the hood is present. The clock is of wooden works and is accompanied with it's pulleys, weights, and pendulum. Top edge of the door has a classic Warner scalloped arch that mimics the shape of the skirt. Figured cherry veneer on the door is bordered with mahogany veneers. Both the upper and lower cases have chamfered corners with concave molding overhanging the lower case. The feet are original and stand essentially full height. Warner is well documented as Kentucky's most prolific tall-case clock maker. For reference read: Making Time: The Art of the Kentucky Tall Case Clock, Speed Art Museum, Louisville, KY, 2019, as well as the Collecting Kentucky, 1790-1860 compendium by Genevieve Baird Lacer and Libby Turner Howard, Cherry Valley Publications, 2013. The clock measures an imposing 91 1/2" tall by 10 1/2" deepest. Bound to become a family heirloom. Don't miss it!
Note added on April 2: We had a request for a dial measurement as it seems there were two different dial sizes for Warner clocks. This dial measures 11 15/16" in width and 12" in height that does not include the arched area. Also a request for the feet measurement and they measure 3 1/4" in height.
