Description:

Large 14K 6ct. Emerald and Diamond Ring with Great History
Offered is an extra fine extra high quality 14K Yellow Gold ring that features a huge beautiful genuine pear shaped Columbian Green Emerald which measures 17mm x 9.5mm that is estimated to weigh 6.00ct. There are 25 round cut brilliant diamonds that encircle the Emerald. The measurements of the round diamonds are 1 @ 2.2mm, 5 @ 2.00mm, and 19 @ 1.8mm. The total diamond weight of the round diamonds is estimated to be .665ct. The total weight of the ring is 7.3 grams and the finger size is 7 1/4. Consignor family lore declares that the ring was purchased for $15,000.00 in the 1960's from Mr. George Blaisdell, the inventor of the Zippo Lighter, by Mr. William H. Thomas, the owner of James B. Lansing Loudspeakers (from the 1940's to 1970). There is no confirming evidence regards Blaisdell but our consignor is the direct heir of Mr. Thomas who inherited the ring through the family by descent and whom we have every reason to believe. Just kind of interesting that two such distinguished gentlemen would find the ring similarly so investment worthy. Also interesting that, as the saga goes, both times the ring was given to the respective wives as anniversary presents. Nice gifts!! Anyway, we presented the ring to a local jeweler and he evaluated and confirmed the authenticity of the ring in terms of the genuine nature of the stones, their sizes, and weight of the Emerald, the diamonds, and the gold all listed above. In our research effort to help arrive at a guesstimate of the fair market value of the ring for the consignor we did find a nearly identical ring in terms of shape and materials with a 7.2ct Emerald and associated diamonds that is currently available on eBay (auction #153715711820) listed at $32,500.00 that purports to have an AGI Appraisal reflecting its value at $55,000.00. We hope this helps. Anybody got an anniversary coming up? It's a beauty and would no doubt thrill her beyond belief.
