Sharon Strausburg is a prominent contemporary printmaker known for her evocative depictions of landscapes. Inspired by her rural upbringing in South Dakota, her current home in Colorado, and her extensive travels, Strasburg creates serene meditations on nature through her monotypes.
Strasburg's dedication to printmaking is evident in her exploration of innovative techniques. She has experimented with laser cutting her works on paper into organic shapes, which she then reassembles to create complex constructions that blend abstracted map and landscape imagery. These intricate pieces evoke a sense of journey and place, inviting viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of nature and human experience. With a BFA from the University of South Dakota and an MFA from Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Strasburg has honed her skills and expanded her artistic horizons. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and her pieces are included in prestigious collections such as the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Arts in Denver, Colorado, and the Museo Aeronautico in Rome, Italy. A bio is photographed and included with this lot.
