Description:

Literally an attic find! Steinway & Sons parlor grand in a Brazilian rosewood case that was made in 1859. Needs thoroughly cleaned and a refinish to the case. In a look-over by a non-piano expert, the inside, although dirty, looks to be complete and in good shape with no cracks seen in the sounding board or the harp. The top does have a 2 ft. crack which can be glued closed. The piano stool that is featured in the photos is included. The piano measures 80 1/4" wide by 39 1/4" deep and is 38" tall. Excuse the dark photos- it is somewhat dark in the attic.

The piano was purchased by Mr. Graves during the Depression and has been in the attic since the late 1930's. Never moved and never touched. For your amusement, refer to the price tag on the piano and see how much he paid for the piano during the Depression.

The movement of the piano from the attic to the outside of the house has to be done by a professional piano moving company, who is bonded and insured for any damages to the house incurred while moving the piano. This is a requirement and has to be understood prior to bidding and the moving cost will be paid by the buyer. If you want to obtain a quote from the piano mover of your choice, please do so prior to bidding. I will be glad to meet them at the house at a mutually convenient time.
So, if you are mulling over this opportunity to own this classic piano but are unsure, realize that a restored twin to this one from the same year recently sold for $25,000.
