Description:

Barnes in his book that he found in Eric Slone's book "A Museum of Early American Tools" that this knife was used to cut tobacco in Connecticutt. Barnes surmises that he expects this was used primarily as a knife to cut the stalks of fodder corn. Either way, a good tool for the field. Good handle and nice blade- all in good shape. Handle measures 12 1/2" in length while the blade measures 11 3/4". This particular knife was part of the Harold Dexter collection from Gloucester, MA.

Items won will be available for pick up at our Auction House on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (May 1-3) from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM EDT and Saturday (May 6) 10:00 AM to noon EDT. Payment can be made by check, cash or credit card at pickup or online prior to pick-up. IMPORTANT: Please bring your own packaging and additional help if needed for loading items. All removals must be completed in a professional and tidy manner. Not responsible for accidents.
Any lots that are not picked up within 10 calendar days of the auction will be sold in a future auction and the sales price minus our commission will be paid to the owner if you have paid and we haven't heard from you.

For those buyers who wish to have their merchandise shipped, please advise Caswell Prewitt of your shipping plans as we do not provide in house shipping. Shipping arrangements can be made through the buyer's own shipper or a shipper listed below. All packing and shipping of merchandise will be at the risk and expense of the buyer.
