Description:

By noted early Danish Impressionist Albert Kongsbak (1877-1958) and signed with his initials in the lower right of the canvas the painting dates to circa 1910. Kongsbak attended the Royal Academy at Charlottenberg from 1895-1901 and won the 'Academy Prize in 1903, 1908, and 1922 and he is also known to have traveled to and painted extensively in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Paris, France where he spent consider time. Numerous of his works have sold at Christie's and Sotheby's over the decades with prices regularly reaching into the 5 figures. This work is easily the largest and quite likely would be considered his finest work known. First, it is immense!, measuring almost 5 feet wide. Second, it features that amazing early European Impressionist color palette like Renoir and Monet and others, loaded with lots of blues and yellows and other gorgeous pastels so desirable. Additionally, it is housed in a massive 7" wide hand crafted hand carved Art Nouveau Era gold leafed wooden frame (possibly crafted by the artist himself?), which is a work of art in itself. And finally, it depicts a classic farmhouse with numerous trees, a pond, and expansive fields vibrantly alive with a bank of ominous clouds rolling in overhead. It truly has it all. Truly one of the finest paintings we have handled and, it has recently been professionally cleaned and restored to perfect condition and is ready to hang and enjoy. It measures 45 1/4" tall x 56 3/8" wide framed. The sight size of the canvas sight size is 31 1/2" tall x 42 1/2" wide. Bound to impress as well as elicit tremendous collectors pride of ownership. It's one of those pieces that when you walk by you can't help but smile.
